Back in 1989 my husband and I began attending Carolina Free Baptist Church in Carolina, Rhode Island. It was there that we met and became very close friends with Janet and Bob Morgan.
On April 30, 1994, the Morgans lost their son in a go-cart accident. We grieved for them and felt at a loss to comfort them. But because of their faith, they stood strong and accepted God's will.
After her son's funeral, I remarked to Janet that it could very well be my son that had passed as they were so much alike. Then, on April 28, 2001, my husband and I experienced the same pain and sorrow. We lost our son in a motorcycle accident.
In sharing, Janet and I started noticing the many similarities of our sons. Though they never met, they shared many things, in life and death.
Though our son had never met the Morgan's son, he attended the calling hours out of respect to Janet and Bob. When he saw their son he remarked to me how he could appreciate him being an individual and not conforming to the usual burial clothing of a suit. Janet's son was wearing a Mickey Mouse tie. Our son requested that if anything were to happen to him, that's how he would want it to be for him. His regular attire, no suit. And his wife, Charon, respected his wishes.
Below I have listed the things our son's shared in common. It is truly amazing and Janet and I both feel the hand of God in bringing us together as close friends and bringing our sons close in these different things. The last thing listed is the truly amazing one.
Both our sons:
Were named Jon and John
Had asthma as children
Were open with their love for their mothers
Loved their wives deeply and made sure to tell others of it
Were non-conformists
Were Christians
Thoroughly enjoyed their jobs and were highly respected by their employers
Were practical jokers and teasers
Went to the same schools though at different times
Loved fast vehicles
Died in April, on a Saturday Jon on April 30, John on April 28
Died at age 32
Died in a vehicular accident
Died doing something they loved.
Jon Morgan, riding his go-cart,
John, riding his motorcycle.
Died instantly
At their calling hours, the people were lined up outside, waiting to come in
to offer their condolences.
Left a 10 year old son, with whom they cherished their time together
Had an older sister, with whom they had a very close relationship
And last but certainly not least .....................
